Why we love Jesus
Jesus is the central figure of Christianity and is revered by over two billion people worldwide as the Son of God and Saviour of humanity. The story of the Bible tells that Jesus was born in Bethlehem to Mary and Joseph, and that he lived a life of radical love and selflessness, caring for those no one else did, teaching people about the kingdom of God and healing the sick. He was crucified under the authority of the Roman governor Pontius Pilate, but we believe that death was not the end for Jesus. In fact, we believe that he rose from the dead on the third day after his death and then appeared to his disciples and many others before ascending into heaven.
Since he is the only one who has ever defeated death, it means Jesus is the answer to the deep yearning of the human heart for purpose, meaning, and salvation. He reveals the love and grace of God to a world full of sin, darkness, and suffering, offering us a way to be reconciled to God and to find true joy and peace. By his life, death, and resurrection, Jesus offers us a new birth, a new identity, new hope, and a new life in the kingdom of God. To know Jesus, is to know the God who created us and loves us unconditionally, and to experience the transformative power of his grace in our own lives.
To put your faith in Jesus is to place your trust in him as the Saviour of the world and to receive the gift of eternal life. This is what gives us hope to face whatever life throws at us, and hope for eternity.
